TABLE MOUNTAIN TREKS AND TOURS
Welcome to Cape Town, vibrant and rich in history, just waiting to be explored…let Table Mountain Treks and Tours show you the many sights of the city and its mountains. Ranging from personalised private tours to informative hiking trails, we would love to share our beautiful city with you!
Tours – Private tours in the Western Cape
Our tours incorporate the main highlights the city and surrounds have to offer and are all based from Cape Town itself. We will do our utmost to accommodate any special interests or requests you may have, such as bird watching, sports events, museum or art gallery visits or any other special event that may be taking place at the time of your visit. We also combine a trek with your day tour, such as hiking the 3 hours Shipwreck Trail when doing a full day Cape Point/Cape Peninsula Tour. Table Mountain Treks and Tours is here to make your Cape Town and Western Cape visit as memorable of an experience as possible!
Treks – Interpretive guided trekking in the Western Cape
Table Mountain, proclaimed a natural monument in 1957 and one of the 7 New Wonders of Nature, is truly a stunning backdrop to the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town below. Standing 1086 metres at the highest point, a wonderful world full of nature awaits to be enjoyed on one of the many hiking trails on this truly magnificent range stretching all the way to Cape Point.
Within the company, Table Mountain Treks and Tours have over 45 years’ experience in mountain guiding on Table Mountain, and our primary focus is on private hiking trips, catering solely for your interests and requirements. We design multi-day treks over the Cape Peninsula for youth groups, schools, university students and corporate groups involved in team building excursions.
Hikes (half or full day), as well as overnight treks, are offered for all seasons in the Table Mountain National Park and elsewhere in the Western Cape. If you want to get out of Cape Town and head deeper into the Western Cape for a multi-day hiking trail then the following trails may interest you: The Boland Hiking Trail, The Whale Trail, The Harkerville Coast Hiking Trail, The Limietberg Hiking Trail and trails in the Cederberg.
Table Mountain is bigger than one thinks and is host to a vast number of routes, ranging from well-defined footpaths such as Platteklip Gorge & Kasteelspoort, to cairned off-trail routes. These minor routes require varying degrees of route finding ability and typically involve rock scrambling, exposure to heights, walking on loose earth and often a little scratchy passing through the fynbos. The reward of these more challenging and unique routes is that there is usually a sense of solitude about them when compared to more defined and popular hiking trails. Adding to this sense of solitude is the history, untouched natural beauty and the scenery which is well worth the effort.
All mountain trips are interpretive and tailored to suit your fitness level and time available. We have highlighted a selection of classic routes but please contact us if there is a particular route, not mentioned below, that you would like to do.
